Curriculum for Wales
Improving education is our national mission. Nothing is so essential as universal access to, and acquisition of the experiences, knowledge and skills that our young people need for employment, lifelong learning and active citizenship. Please click on the link to read our Curriculum summery.
The new curriculum is based around four main purposes and learning is planned to ensure that our pupils achieve these to become:
-
Ambitious, capable learners who are ready to learn throughout their lives;
-
Enterprising, creative contributors who are ready to play a full part in life and work;
-
Ethical, informed citizens who are ready to be citizens of Wales and the world;
-
Healthy, confident individuals who are ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society.
These purposes are developed across six areas of learning and through developing three cross-curricular responsibilities.
The six areas of learning are:
-
Expressive Arts
-
Health and Well-being
-
Humanities
-
Languages, Literacy and Communication
-
Mathematics and Numeracy
-
Science and Technology
We develop our pupils’ literacy, numeracy and digital competency skills across the curriculum in everything that we do. We use ‘real-life’ experiences to challenge and enable our children to make connections across learning experiences.
